The Center for Public Television & Radio

The Center for Public Television & Radio (CPT&R) is a full-service multi-media and video production agency within the University of Alabama.  Since 1955, CPT&R’s has provided programs to Alabama Public Television, the nation’s first educational television network as well as to other public stations across the country.  CPT&R also handles commercial productions working on projects ranging from television commercials to corporate videos and also original programming such as Alabama Life, Alabama Inc, and Iron Bowl Hour.   Alabama Public Radio, a division of CPT&R brings quality public radio to over two-thirds of the state of Alabama. They provide national programming from National Public Radio, American Public Media and Public Radio International as well as locally produced shows such as Speaking of Pets, The Crooners, All  Things Acoustic, and Jugs, Jukes & Jazz.  In 2012 our award-winning news team won the prestigious Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and the national Edward R Murrow award for overall excellence.
